Press on…

I just read an article by Shari G. about the excitement and motivation that often drives us. She was discussing the varying degrees of motivation and drive in her business endeavors and how to keep from loosing steam.

I think this topic touches almost every aspect of our lives. In the beginning everything is new and exciting. Love is new in the beginning so it is exciting but after time the excitement fades… At the beginning of the school year students are excited for the year but as time goes on they become bored and even drained…

My students even display this behavior, it happens every semester. We take on learning a new routine, they are pumped and all into what we are trying to do. Yet at the end (when it matters most) they poop out and start slacking off.

Even my boyfriend does this… He gets all excited about doing or making something then halfway through something else catches his attention and he put his project on the back burner… Well, I guess I do it to with my knitting… We are all guilty!

Anyway the point is that we all throw in the towel to easily sometimes. The difference between the successful and the mediocre is discipline. It so important to keep going when you are feeling lazy about a task or project. You started it for a reason right? So what has changed?

Almost everything happens in phases and yes it is normal to loose steam/ motivation or whatever… but if you were truly into doing it and if you really wanted it you would press on despite it all. You will be amazed how well it turns out when you push on rather than giving up. Noting good comes without some struggle or hardship, nothing is easy folks!

So next time you feel like throwing in the towel remember that you will always want to quit right before you are about to succeed because that is when it is the hardest.. Press on and stay committed, then you can see your true abilities!
