Some awards to pass on and some linky love

Teeni awarded me the Honest Scrap Award sometime ago. The idea is that I am supposed to tell you ten honest things about me and then tag seven victims/ friends to do the same on their own blog. So, my 10 honest things are: 1. I have a very tiny tattoo that my little brother gave me one thanksgiving. It is the smallest one in history I think! 2. I've only ever lived in 2 states, Arizona and now Indiana. 3. I am the oldest and have 2 younger brothers. 4. My mom had me, waited 5 years, had my brother, waited 5 more years then had my youngest brother. How is that for perfect spacing? 5. I died my hair green in 6th grade to win a contest. I love contests! 6. N and I...

Headed to The Farm Midwifery Center: Will be meeting my new baby soon!

Most of you already know, today is the day I leave for The Farm to have my baby with a midwife. I've got wonderfully peaceful accommodations right next to the home of my trusted midwife there in The Farm community. I am 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Tater could arrive any day now and we wanted to be sure I was there and settled just a tad early, better safe than sorry right? That way Tater can make her entrance either before or after her "due date" and I'll be exactly where I need to be, ready for it. So, given I have some cell phone reception I'll be live blogging via text message. These will be very short and sweet entries to keep everyone in the loop. I recommend you...

Bags are packed, I'm ready to go!

Tomorrow I'll be at The Farm staying in my midwife's birthing cabin right next door to her. I'll be 38 weeks 2 days pregnant and at that point, Tater can basically choose her perfect birthday and come whenever she is ready. I wont be stressing about whether or not we'll make it to The Farm in time, my stress will shift to "will N get back to us in time when labor starts?" but I'll be much better off as far as anxiety goes (I think). Pretty much everything on my to-do list is done, I am ready to go and am slightly excited to arrive at The Farm. On the other hand I am sort of sad to leave the house, pets and N behind. It is going to be...

LiveBlog: Tornado Watches give me contractions!

4:42 PM Sitting out the tornado warning, lights are flickering. Me and the cats are hanging out in the down stairs bathroom. Fun times! 5:00 PM: RT @Jeff_Lyons: "Tornado Watch for most of the tri-state now in effect until midnight cdt" That means me! What about the Evansville Birth Network meeting tonight? 5:11 PM http://twitpic.com/75cxo - I wanna go eat my brownies but not sure if I am clear to leave the bathroom shelter yet. 5:39:51 PM: Heading out for my birth network meeting, tornado warning is past, we are still under a tornado watch though. 8:15:17 PM: Home from the birth network meeting. Bad weather has passed and now I am ready to have a snack and a rest in bed. Whew, crazy day....

Late pregnancy, early labor symptoms. Blunt and graphic talk ;-)

Yep, you guessed it I am doing some more pregnancy TMI posting! If this is not your cup of tea or if you are having breakfast or whatever feel free to skip the post. I'll understand. Today I am 38 weeks pregnant and last night was the first night I've been in actual pain with regards to contractions. You know that cervical pain I've been mentioning? Well I've now decided it feels like Tater is poking or clawing at the cervix and that I'll pop and gush water at any moment as a result, lol. I know it is kind of a strange way to describe it all and technically Tater isn't touching my cervix since my bag of water/ membranes are separating her from the actual cervix right now. She isn't...

Less-words Wednesday: Pregnancy Home Stretch Edition

There are only two more days until I leave you all and head off to wait on my little girls arrival. I am totally feeling ready for this and am very anxious for labor to begin. Saw the chiropractor yesterday and was all out of whack again. Even more so now that Tater's bones are grinding against mine in just about every position I am in. Felt good to be adjusted and all put back in place. Here's hoping all stays that way for the delivery. With chiropractic care labor and delivery are supposed to be quicker and easier. Yesterdays adjustment was my last before heading off to The Farm. Before I head off I've been sure to write many advance posts and get them all scheduled here to tide you over...

Really, 5 min cake in a mug? You becha!

Yeah, so thanks to Witchypoo's talks of birthday cake and wine I was having my own cake craving yesterday. She recommended I search for the 5 min cake in a mug recipe for some instant chocolate goodness and I found it here. Calls for tablespoons of sugar, flour (specifically cake flour), cocoa powder, milk, oil and an egg. Seems simple enough but then you microwave it. Sort of strange if you ask me but what the heck? So I combine my all purpose flour (didn't have cake flour, is there a difference?) , sugar, cocoa and the egg. Then I added the milk and oil and mixed the heck out of it as directed. Popped the mug in to the microwave and stood back. Our microwave makes this strange sound when you nuke stuff,...

Still pregnant and still preparing for baby Tater's arrival

I am 37 weeks 4 days pregnant today. Things are still going as planned and all is well, I've just been less energetic and basically I am irritable and restless at this point. My mind is going 100 miles a minute but my body can't keep up. I try getting out and doing stuff but am quickly forced to retreat back to the couch or bed. Haven't had much to say here on the blog because all is still going fine and as expected, I feel like I've been sharing the normal updates for 9 months and they are the same ole shit, different day- LOL. Tater is still moving like a mad woman, I am still mucus plug loosing. Contractions are now hurty and tight at the same time but never...

37 weeks: Last weekend at home before I head to the Farm…

Today we had a good quickie shopping trip before N went off to work. We stopped by Walgreens to take advantage of a few really good deals. Aquafresh Toothpaste was normally $2.29 each. With the store coupon found in their weekly circular ad they were marked down to $.99 each. We got 2 and also had a manufactures coupon for $.75 off which got the price per tube down to $.62 per 6.4oz tube. Not bad! We only had one of the manufactures coupons, if we had 2 of the $.75 off coupons we would have been able to get them for $.24 each. That would be less than a pack of gum. We were also on the hunt for Dawn dish soap. A 10.3oz bottle was going for $1.99 but with the...

Getting back to teaching, once Tater is born.

Life never ceases to amaze me! I am marveling at how easily some things just fall in to place in life and I am super excited that another door has opened for me. Remember how I was working with a few different colorguard/ winterguard units back in Flagstaff, AZ that we had to leave behind when we moved all the way to Indiana? Well I always knew something else would come along for me at the right time. We just weren't really sure when that right time would be. I had a few local contacts in Indiana and some possibilities to consider before making the big move but ultimately decided to wait on making any commitments until we were in our new city and settled. Offers came and went, possibilities were still...

12:05:17 PM: Just lost some of my mucus plug, 1 cm dilated as of yesterday.12:14:27 PM: Sitting down for pancakes and bacon with N now.1:07:57 PM: It is so exciting to know that progress is being made as far as having the baby goes.1:09:08 PM: N and I were talking about how Tater seems to be on board for an early arrival, about right when we get to The Farm I bet.1:10:05 PM: Having her when both N and I are at The Farm would be ideal. No stress of him trying to get to the birth in time, you know?1:14:46 PM: LOL, Heidi just said: "Wow! You should take a picture of it and post it on the Internet! TMI for the Internet!!!"1:15:05 PM: Glad I am not the...

Free baby clothes explosion and some TMI pregnancy talk.

On Sunday we met a lady to pick up some free infant girl clothes that were offered up on freecycle. We have a love/ hate relationship with freecycle. Mostly because so many people are flakes about coming and picking up the stuff they claim they want. Anyway, since the budget has been so tight we have not been reluctant to ask for things we need when someone posts an offer on freecycle. We've managed to get some pretty helpful things like pet food and baby stuff which has helped us big time. This last freecycler takes the cake though! We expected a box or a sack of clothing items when we came to claim the baby girl stuff. She said she had a range of sizes and some various other odds and...

In 12 days I am outta here to wait for Tater's birth…

N and I enjoyed our second-to-last-weekend before the baby madness begins, we stayed in and relaxed. I also tried to stay off the computer and away from technology since I am about to be cut off from it for an extended amount of time while out at The Farm. It was a warm and dry weekend here so N was able to grill dinner, which is his new favorite weekend thing and he also did yard work outside. I am not handling the heat all that well over extended periods of time so I didn't hang out with him too much for the yard work fun but we did enjoy a nice moonlit dinner of burgers and grilled corn Saturday. We listened to the frogs and watched the lightening in the distance....

Another week draws to an end… Coming up on 37 weeks pregnant!

<-  Look what I've been working on!! It is not the greatest but I needed a blog button for a new writing gig I have going on. It looks like I'll be one of the contributing editors to Sited and Blogged sharing coupon finds and deals! I know, I've always got a million things going huh? LOL. The other exciting stuff happening is that next week Tater will officially be FULL TERM and we'll be just 3 short weeks from her due date. This is very exciting for us although it is going to be hard to be away from N for so long. In 2 weeks he is dropping me off at The Farm, he'll stay the weekend and then he heads back home on Sunday. He has to work (no paternity...

Trust & Intuition Vs. Uncertainty & Lack of Experience: Childbirth and Labor

Today I am 36 weeks pregnant and things are still going great but things are also changing and happening with my body that I am noticing and (according to N) I am spending too much time worrying about. LOL. I am all about following intuition and listening to my body's signals which is why I am going the direction I am with labor and delivery. This means accepting and not fearing the unknown right? Part of me is there. On the other hand, for a first time mom there is lots of stuff you haven't experienced yet so you wonder about how it will be for you. Will I know labor has begun, what will contractions be like, how will I handle it all etc...

Memorial Day Weekend Recap and Coutdown to Tater's Arrival.

N and I had a good holiday weekend. It was a three day weekend for him so we got lots done and also had a bit of fun too! Saturday we spent grocery shopping, we had lots of coupons and there were many sales so we blitzed several stores and took advantage of all the sales we could. We even picked up some necessities for Tater while we were out saving money. We had fun at the local downtown farmers market and got so many great items there. After the grocery shopping I was pretty exhausted and needed some rest time so we headed home. Contractions and fatigue were a big pain for me on Saturday and I was having some real issues breathing as a result of Tater siting on my...
