Gardening and Laptop anticipation…

I am going to burst with anticipation of my newly purchased laptops arrival!! I finally bit the bullet and bought myself a laptop! I am tired of being confined to my office/ inventory room when I am writing articles and working on my business. I have a beautiful garden and a pooch downstairs that I want to spend time with but I have some much computer work to do.. The solution was a wireless laptop!! Yay! I bought mine from USA Notebook because they are cheaper and they don't have windows vista preloaded on them. The notebooks are refurbished and they have a 6 month warranty! It was just what I needed! Anyway, mine is supposed to arrive today and I really cannot wait!! YAY!! As I am writing this blog post...

Ways of living a sustainable life..

The Mothers Day Rush…

Today was a super busy day for Custom Gifts by Talina! It all started with some really cute stuff that I found a while back. I had the idea to make up a really nice mothers day gift basket to add to my inventory. I found a cute porcelain teapot/ tea cup duet with a matching saucer and this photo frame pillow that read "mother". I bought them and began constructing a basket around these cute items. While I was shopping around for items to accompany my teapot and pillow I was amazed at the lack of mothers day gifts in the stores around town. I even went to the local walmart figuring they would have an entire isle dedicated to the holiday like they usual do for any commerical holiday.....

Letting others learn for themselves.

The journey of life is filled with choices and resulting consequences. Every situation we experience leads to the next experience and every experience has choices to be made whether you are aware of them or not. People DO NOT have to be the victims of the circumstances in their lives. Everybody is dealt a hand in life but from there choices have to be made that will determine the direction of ones life. I say these things because I am living proof of them. I did not have a perfect childhood and I was exposed to many things that made my journey more difficult. It could have been easier for me if my childhood was different but I REFUSE to allow my past circumstances to dictate my future. In the past I have...

Making the world a better place.

My chunk of the world is a better place because I save rain water for the garden, I compost organic matter and I love to garden. I am recycling and also looking into earth friendly craft ideas and ways to save or reuse things. I wrote an article about green/ earth friendly gift ideas and I am exploring more and more ways to live a greener life. No, I am not a "hippie" or a "tree hugger", I just care about how I treat the earth and I want to do all I can to ensure my children's children (and so on) get to enjoy the the planet also. During our trip to Colorado Springs I noticed so many people with large chunks of land, I envy them and hope to one day...

One Kind Act Wednesdays

I visited Annie over @ Loving Annie and discovered her One Kind Act Wednesday post. This seems like something will enjoy participating in and it will help me to do kind things for others more often. My kind act for the day is: Forgiveness and acceptance. On Tuesday I was helping out an old employer and ended up getting verbally abused and attacked by a generally unhappy couple of women over a honest mistake that another employee of the company made. I am not talking about a simple complaint here. These women set out to intentionally attack and belittle somebody. I ended up having to encounter them and despite my best efforts to remedy the situation they were set on being nasty to me. I do not appreciate being a verbal punching bag but...

Sick dog, students performance and books for my birthday

I have a few moments this morning so I am trying to post an update about how the last few weeks have been. My birthday was nice and so was out trip to Colorado springs. However I am disappointed about the lack for pine forest there. I got a few really interesting books for my birthday that I am enjoying reading. All the books follow the positive thoughts/ engery theme. The books are: The Secret by Rhonda Byrne This book talks about how powerful your thoughts are in attracting things to you. This is a topic Wayne Dyer and many other authors have touched on. The Secret is however written for the average joe and may be easier for others to follow. Positive Energy: 10 Extraordinary Prescriptions for Transforming Fatigue, Stress and Fear...

Spring is here and so are those pesky allergies.

I love to spend time in the garden watering plants, pruning and planting various new things to enjoy. Unfortunately itchy, watery eyes, painful sinus pressure and headaches have interrupted my gardening hobby. I am very familiar with the available over the counter allergy medicines that can relieve my symptoms but I have always been reluctant to use them because of the annoying side effects. I figured there must be a better more natural way to relieve my symptoms so I started searching. In my search for natural/ home remedies I was amazed to find out that there are an abundance of ways to relive allergy symptoms Things like drinking herbal tea, taking herbal/ mineral supplements and using aromatherapy are just a few inexpensive, natural ways I found to relieve allergy...

Spring is here and so are the flowers…

I don't know about you but I sure get all excited about my planted bulbs in the spring and summer. I just love to anticipate the burts of color that the flowers bring. I created my blooming bulb gift so that everyone could enjoy the beauty and symbolism that flowering bulbs bring. The blooming bulb gift is simply a potted bulb (or many) that is preplanted in a decorative pot or tin. It is ready to be purchased and delivered to your loved ones door step. Some people live in harsh climates and are unable to plant their favorite flowering bulbs in outdoor flower beds for enjoyment. The blooming bulb gift makes it possible for anyone to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of flowering bulbs indoors almost anytime of the year. Flowering bulbs are...

We are all we have…

I commute from flagstaff to sedona on a daily basis for work. I am often driving home from work after dark and the drive is through national forests. I often see wildlife and I have been lucky enough to not hit any in the entire time I have been doing the drive. A few nights ago the person driving in-front of me was not so lucky. I wouldn't have known there was a hazard if the guy wasn't shining a flashlight towards the coming cars. The flashlight caught my eye and I hit the breaks just in time...

Noitice the beauty around you and you will have a great day.

How is it that simply getting up in the morning and taking the time to "smell the roses" can make your whole day great? This morning when I went down to pur myself some coffee I looked outside to see what the temperature gage was reading. It was warm enough last night for us to sleep with the windows open. You see here in Flagstaff, AZ most places don't have AC becasue it's generally not necessary. As long as you open those windows and get a fan or two the air temperature is just fine in the summer. Anyway, it's warming up here so I was curious about the morning themperature, it was about 60 degrees. After observing the temperature I proudly looked upon my sprouting poppy seeds, growning berry bushes...

Protect your identity by holding on to your old hard drive…

Computers make day-to-day life much more convenient. You can manage your banking online, pay bills, obtain vital records, keep in contact with friends, research, network and so much more. Identity theft is a major concern for online users everywhere. Everyone is concerned about how to keep their information safe while browsing the World Wide Web but many people don’t think about where their personal information can end up when a computer is discarded. A computer hard drive holds tons of personal information even after the disk has crashed or been formatted. I have come across many discarded computers in apartment complexes and sitting near dumpsters on street corners and I am amazed that so many people will simply discard entire working computers because they are simply done with them. The first discovery was...
