]]>Yeah, so we’ve got some horny animals in the house these days. It could be that valentines day is next week and love is in the air… or perhaps it is just because they are both unfixed still and are feeling “urges”…
Either way it is bad news! Gabby walks around with her butt in the air and she is meowing and talking like crazy while rubbing herself against anything she can.
Boner is just humping anything that is warm so we keep him in a cage most of the time. Problem is bunnies can’t be confined to tiny cages all day, everyday. They need to run and hop so we let him out to exercise but we also need to keep him from Gabby’s lady parts.
I am inventive you know so I put a cloth diaper on Gabby just to make sure we didn’t have any strange crossbreeding action. Then we set Boner free to exercise for a bit. It was not a g rated morning!
Weird thing is they are both okay with the humping, it is disturbing to us but they both seems to be having a good time… Oddly. I wish we had the money to fix them both right now. Unfortunately, we don’t so we’ll just make due by keeping them separate most of the time.
Good news is the new rabbit hutch N is building should be finished this weekend thanks to the warmer temperatures, yay! Soon Boner and Maybelle will both have room to exercise inside enclosed cages as opposed to being crammed in to one cage together.

We took the finch nest out of the cage because all the experts say that without a nest finches wont try to breed. Well, this is the 2nd time our zebra finches have proved them wrong! So we broke down and put the nest back in the cage, moved the eggs to the nest and are getting ready for another batch of babies!

If you guys are sick of reading about my finch saga please let me know…. For some reason it’s the highlight of almost every day. Today we checked the nest to find 5 eggs in the clutch now. Our finches are on their third attempt to reproduce now and we were hoping to delay the process a bit more. Oh well!
We did removed the grown babies from the cage mom and dad are in. We did this because all the reading material said that when mom and dad began laying again the older/ grown babies would be in danger and that they might be considered “in the way”…
So despite the very traumatic situation we separated them. Babies are in one cage and mom, dad and the 5 new eggs are in another cage.
Oh, and my 3 grown babies are doing well and all have new homes & owners that will take them pretty soon here. We still have the gray/ white finch that is a bit different from all the rest. I guess we hatched a unique one!
So once the grown babies start to get their defining feathers we will send them off to their new homes and then we will focus on the new hatchlings that are on the way, we will need to find homes for these too.. It would be nice if we could sell the to a pet store!
