]]>Thanks to a comment on this post I am now just a tad BPA paranoid. After Wendy’s comment I checked out the type of plastic on the yummy fruit bowls and was sad to find that they were a number 7 plastic. She has a good point about recycling that type of plastic. Also, number 7 plastic is the plastic to avoid because of BPA.
I was reminded of this when I got my Seventh Generation email newsletter that featured this article: My Body Burden, Part 2: BPA
When N came home that night I shared the article with him and we went and checked all the plastic in our kitchen. We are purging all number 7 plastics and any plastic that is not numbered. This unfortunately includes my favorite water bottle. We are also going to be looking out for what kinds of preserved foods we buy.
We were bummed to find out that canned foods and beverages also can contain BPA due to the lining material of many cans. Then I leaned that BPA can and does pass through breast milk to babies so now I am super paranoid about my own BPA exposure.

]]>Well, somehow with the pregnancy hormones and the doubts I’ve lost my ability to decide things and it kind of stinks. Not only am I indecisive I am also the expert of getting myself to doubt my own options or ideas. Sounds like a pretty world ending sad thing huh?
Do you think they make a pill for this? Seriously!
No, I am kidding because really my indecisiveness is only about silly non world ending stuff like picking a bedding set and nursery colors for little Tater Tot.
Since finding out we’re having a girl I’ve been wanting to decide upon colors and a theme. After all that is the one thing people ask you about immediately after you tell them, “It’s a girl”. Actually, it is a toss up between that an “Have you decided upon a name yet?”!
Reminds me of being asked “when is the big date?” the day after we announced our engagement. Seriously, we just got the news and we haven’t decided anything yet.
Anyway, I’ve been asked a bazillion times about colors, themes and names since finding out Tater is a girl (5 days ago) and deciding has been pretty difficult!
We are going back and forth between a few bedding sets and color scheme ideas that we like. None are overly pink since we are going for a more modern feel that is soothing, neutral but also vivid and fun.
The first one is the CoCaLo Bali Couture Set that we really love. We saw it over at Babies R Us in a catalog, they had color swatches and we just fell in love with the safari theme. It has all sorts of coordinating pieces like lamps, curtains and all that. The only down side is that it is a bit on the expensive side @ $250+ for just the 4 piece bedding set.
The next one is the Galapagos set by Bean Sprout that we saw over at Baby Depot. It was on display in the furniture set we have chosen and the blue really stood out more when we saw it in person. It too has fun coordinating stuff that goes with the bedding set. This one isn’t as expensive as the first but I am not crazy over the turtles. I mean which would a girl like more silly turtles or pretty leopard print?
Our bedding set will most likely be a the Summerhaven Collection by Simmons. It is a dark brown color called “French Roast” that we saw in Baby Depot over the weekend. N really liked it and it is super stable and will grow with Tater so it is a good investment.
Over the weekend we “decided” on the Galapagos collection because we were weary of the price of the Bali set and we were unsure about not seeing it in person to make a decision.
Last night at dinner I went back on my decision and told N I thought the Bali looked way cuter. The only problem is that registering for such an expensive set is kind of presumptuous and I would never want to give the impression we were expecting others to get it for us at such a hefty price…
This morning while N was looking over the 2 sets and trying to make the final decision for me he saw that the Bali bedding set was on sale online for only $179 and we both decided that we should spring for it and lock the decision in, plus we got a pretty sweet deal on it! Now people can help us get the matching items if they want. Yay, decisions!
So finally a decision has been made! Our nursery will look like this:
