]]>Things like “douchebag-deluxe” and “breastfeeding like a hunchback” are the most recent ones…
N started it by telling me it was my own fault I had neck and back pain… “you breastfeed all hunchback like, it’s no wonder!” I looked at him all perplexed and mildly amused by the blunt remark.
He goes on to tell me that I used to be all about using pillows for support while I breastfed and now I’ve just resolved to feeding her uncomfortably.
I responded that he could offer to bring me my pillows and to help make me more comfortable when I am breastfeeding instead of being all douchebag-deluxe and leaving me to care for Everly all by my self all the time. We both snorted and went on our merry way.
It’s nice to have some humor back in the house!
In other news I’ve attempted to vlog with Everly, it’s less than eventful (unless you like my leaking boob!) but I know some family and friends will appreciate the shared video.
Oh, Everly took 1.5 oz of pumped milk from a bottle this morning while I slept. Woot, woot!

]]>The broadcast will appear below once the live show starts (old recorded videos will play both before and after the actual broadcast). You’ll be able to see us via the video box and using the chat box just below it you can chat with us and ask questions, etc.
We hope this is a fun and interactive way for us to share Everly’s Homecoming with everyone who is following it!
Also, did you see our funny test video? I was changing her diaper right before hand and the webcam was also being tested to make sure the broadcast would work. We ended up capturing a great video of she shooting poop all over me just as I was trying to slide her out of her pee mess..
My pants are still stained from it!

]]>The post Mad-lib birth announcement game & vlog. Join the fun! appeared first on Updates from Ryder Family Farm.
]]>Then back in March I saw another really fun blog post idea written by Meagan Francis that I just knew I would copy, a mad-lib birth announcement.
I thought It would be fun to combine the two really great ideas and do a birth announcement here on the blog, mad-lib style but for added fun and reader involvement I want to let you come up with the mad-lib in the same way Teeni did her story game.
Now if this doesn’t seem like fun to you then you’ve got to go and lick click those links I posted above. Both ideas are genius and combining them is just going to be that much better!
So, to participate just leave a comment below saying you want to be included. Be sure to use a valid email address okay? I’ll be replying to you with the specifics soon!
So just to recap: You get to write the mad-lib sentences, N and I will fill in all Tater’s birth details and the we will post the end result here on the blog. It will also end up being a super cute (and unique) thing for me to print out and put in Tater’s baby book as a keepsake. Yay!
Also, here is my 33rd week and 1 day belly vlog:

]]>The post 6 weeks until the baby wait begins… appeared first on Updates from Ryder Family Farm.
]]>In 6 short weeks I’ll be taking a blog hiatus and enjoying the forest settings at The Farm while I wait for Tater to join us. Can you believe that? 6 weeks! I am feeling pretty good about it all and am still totally ready and excited! If you missed the update on my latest OBGYN appointment from yesterday you can read about it here.
Some of you already know, we went thrift store rummaging for baby clothes as did Maiden53 (who is a doll for thinking of us) and we’ve also received some new clothes from N’s family and from my grandparents for Tater. This means we have about 30 outfits in varying sizes and styles ranging from 0-24 months!
I succeeded in getting them all laundered at the moldy rental while we were cleaning it over the weekend. I am so pleased to have some clean clothing packed away in the birth kit ready for Tater’s arrival, makes me feel all prepared and stuff!
As I am writing this it is 3pm and 82 degrees in the coolest part of our house. I am chugging water and eating a jonagold apple with the fan blasting me while I type this. I am a Phoenix, Arizona baby and am very used to NOT having AC (thanks to Flagstaff, AZ apartment living) so I refuse to use the AC unless it is totally unbearable. I know once the humidity comes I’ll need the AC but for now, while it is a dry heat I’ll make do. It saves money right?
On Saturday we called and were avoided by the slumloards but left more messages, we are still trying to set up a move out inspection time. We also spent several hours over at the old place cleaning and doing laundry. While we were there N got to chatting with the neighbors who were all very curious about our landlord drama.
One of them even asked us for the landlords current phone number. I guess they’ve got a friend who also used to live in that place as renters. The slumloards never returned the owed security deposit to them, it’s been 2 years and they are still trying to get their money back. Also we were told that 2 other old tenants have had to abandon the premises without a move out inspection since the landlords mysteriously become unreachable. N talked to 3 different sets of neighbors about our crappy rental situation, the slumloards seem to be on everyone’s bad side!
We did have a wonderful “date night” Sunday. We were given tickets to a show and we rewarded ourselves to a cheap “linner” out (late lunch/ early dinner= linner, lol) and then went to the show in Owensboro, KY. It was fun to get dressed up and to go out since the majority of our days are spent cleaning, running errands or unpacking right now.
We went to Firefly Southern Grill and had the most amazing food. It was by far the BEST food we’ve had since moving here. We loved the atmosphere and the service and the food was amazing. I had my first taste of fried green tomatoes and collard greens, yummo! I enjoyed steak and N had salmon wellington as our entree items. Everything was fantastic!
The show we saw was also great! We saw the Broadway show, the Spelling Bee and thought it was tons of fun. Tater was super active during the show, I wonder what she thought of the singing and music. Hopefully she’ll be a lover of the arts like we are.
All in all the date was super fun, we had a great weekend and are off an running for another productive/ busy week.

]]>Unfortunately for my readers and far away buddies I wont have internet access once I get there. Which means I wont be blogging or updating while I am there. I am going to have major internet withdrawal folks!
But, we are working out various other options like tweeting updates via text message and also having guest posts from other bloggers to keep the content fresh here while I am away. Email me if you are interested in guest posting.
Lately N and I have been toying with the idea of doing a live video chat right before we head off to The Farm to have Tater. We thought it would be something that readers and also friends and family would enjoy. You know so I can show you guys the bump, we can talk about how things are going and you can see us with your own two eyes! Questions can be asked and we can just have some sort of face time together right before I take my little leave of absence.
We’ll hook up our webcam and do a little broadcast via Ustream that will appear right here on the blog for you guys to see in real time.
The broadcast will also have a chat function. Which means you’ll be able to watch the video broadcast and also chat with us in real time! We’ll answer your questions and respond to you right then via the video broadcast, pretty nifty huh? Isn’t the internet amazing?
It will be so much like a face to face encounter, which is cool considering we are so freaking far away from everyone these days!
Here is a sample broadcast of ours, it is prerecorded broadcast of Tater’s movements that I did as a test run.
Live streaming video by Ustream
Since the above sample it isn’t a live broadcast we may not all be here to chat at the same time (unless you just popped over via a reader right after I published this), I thought it gives a good taste of how cool the whole setup could be though.
Also, N and I are toying with another idea… doing a “live test broadcast” that we’ll announce here on the blog so you guys can mark your calenders and attend it, if you are interested.
The topic if the test broadcast: We thought it might be fun to share our walk though of the new house the day we get our keys! That way can show you the empty place room by room at that time and get a feel for the chat/ broadcast set up while we do it.
Of course that is all dependent on whether or not we have internet access at the new place by that time but we are working to make it happen! Figured it could be a fun blog post too.
We’ll probably password protect the broadcast, you know to keep the stalkers and creeps away. I’ll need to know who all to send the password to… So, if you are interested being included in these broadcasts please say so in the comments section or shoot me an email so I can add you to the broadcast notification list.
Oh and Happy St Patrick’s Day! Wanna see how dumb I was back in the 6th grade around this time? Check out my styling GREEN hair!!!
