We took the finch nest out of the cage because all the experts say that without a nest finches wont try to breed. Well, this is the 2nd time our zebra finches have proved them wrong! So we broke down and put the nest back in the cage, moved the eggs to the nest and are getting ready for another batch of babies!

If you guys are sick of reading about my finch saga please let me know…. For some reason it’s the highlight of almost every day. Today we checked the nest to find 5 eggs in the clutch now. Our finches are on their third attempt to reproduce now and we were hoping to delay the process a bit more. Oh well!
We did removed the grown babies from the cage mom and dad are in. We did this because all the reading material said that when mom and dad began laying again the older/ grown babies would be in danger and that they might be considered “in the way”…
So despite the very traumatic situation we separated them. Babies are in one cage and mom, dad and the 5 new eggs are in another cage.
Oh, and my 3 grown babies are doing well and all have new homes & owners that will take them pretty soon here. We still have the gray/ white finch that is a bit different from all the rest. I guess we hatched a unique one!
So once the grown babies start to get their defining feathers we will send them off to their new homes and then we will focus on the new hatchlings that are on the way, we will need to find homes for these too.. It would be nice if we could sell the to a pet store!

]]>I have been working to revamp the appearance of my website Custom Gifts by Talina using cascading style sheets (CSS). CSS is pretty interesting and really opens many doors but it is something new to me so naturally it is pretty hard to learn at first. If you are wondering what CSS is you should check out this CSS info. I like CSS because it eliminates the need for tables and lengthy HTML, it allows you to style and entire website with one document and it makes changing font color, size, images etc. very easy and less overwhelming.
In addition to working on my website I have also been working pretty hard to get my home packed up! We are making the move to a town home on July 30th… One day before I begin the school year with my colorguard students!! We are moving in a single day because of time constraints and lease terms. Our new place is being cleaned and serviced the day we move in so naturally we will have soggy carpets and chaos…
This week I was asked to be a staff member at the upcoming NAU auxiliary camp. This is something new and challenging that I am looking forward to taking on. The camp lasts four days and we are just teaching colorguard basics and a routine to those who signed up. It will be a good learning experience for me!!
Oh, last week I was working on an article for the magazine Mother Earth News. They called for submissions and were offering to pay $250 to the person they choose to publish. Obviously I wrote a piece and sent it in for possible publication! I am anxious to see if they will want to publish me or not!!
The baby birds are growing so much that they look uncomfortably crammed into their nest now!! Pretty soon they will start to leave the nest.. I have a little humming bird that comes by several times a day to drink from my feeder. My lilies are blooming out on my patio and it is an overcast, somewhat cool day. It would be nice to get some rain!
