Baby birds, gardening and moving..

Lots of new things are happening in my life! I have had the pleasure of enjoying nature lately. I have an apartment patio that is filled with herbs, vegetables and flowers. Just recently two barn swallows that have also taken up residence on my patio. They built a nest, laid eggs and now have six babies!! It has been so much fun to watch these two barn swallows build, nurture and hatch their young! All the time we have just been quietly observing and snapping photos when we can.

Also, I just put 1500 live lady bugs in to my garden for natural pest control and I put 1lb of earthworms into my mini compost bin this morning to speed the composting process. Got my worms and ladybugs from: http://www.wormman.com/

Besides all my nature encounters I am packing and preparing to move into the cutest town home in less than a month! I am excited because I will have my own mini back yard that I can garden in! I am thinking about all the plants I will be able to grow that will attract butterflies and ladybugs!! I just found out that milkweed and hollyhocks attract butterflies and apparently ladybugs love my bearded iris..

  1. Hi Talina, I can only imagine how nice and cool it is up in Flag. I am happy to here you two found a place to land that will get along with kittys. Do they like the Swallows? Your Mom pulled a mussle in her calf, trying to keep SUSU from sneeking out the gate. She is napping now. I am sure she updated you on Grandma Lucy. She has got her all moved in, jst around the corner. Close to the old Funky house. Gary is living with Jacob next door, and working with him and Tim. Garry has to go to anger managment class. Go figure! Meloist guy I have ever met. Happy gardening! Jerry
