Life in Evansville personal stories pregnancy

It doesn't get more positive than that, now get busy!

Waking up in the wee hours of the morning has been a common occurrence for me this week. I am not sure what exactly is causing it but I am not sleeping through the nights.

Anywho I was up and pissed off about it enjoying the sunrise and I got the urge to pee. I made the trek across the dark bedroom, across the hall and to the bathroom. I thought why not pee on another pregnancy test now? Since N was still unconvinced about the validity of my previous pregnancy tests we bought more and would continue taking them ever few days until solid confirmation was achieved.

So I completed 2 things on my to-do list at once, I peed and did the pregnancy test. Now can I got back to bed? After tossing, turning and making N roll over whenever he started to snore I eventually fell back asleep.

N came in to wake me at about 9:30am, the first thing he said was “Now THAT is a positive pregnancy test!”. Um, the previous three were also positive buddy! I guess today’s test resulted in a dark enough double line to convince him.

Then we spent the morning formulating our to-do list for the next few weeks:

  • File the insurance paperwork for the both of us with N’s employer
  • Find T a doctor
  • Get T a prenatal appointment
  • Take drivers license tests so we can have Indiana drivers licenses
  • Register the car in Indiana
  • Vote early after we have drivers licenses
  • Get a marriage license
  • Get married on paper for insurance purposes.

We got down to the BMV (it stands for bureau of motor vehicles, it is like EVERY state has to call it something different!) to take our written drivers exams. We both finished the tests and passed, woho! Then they tested our eyes, N passed I am apparently blind. They would not give me my license until I got my vision fixed.

I could not read any of the lines they had on their little machine (they were a combination of 5’s, 6’s and 8’s) but I can see just fine in the real world! The only time I ever had trouble is when it is dark and I am trying to read street signs. I was so bummed that I had somehow gone blind in 10 years. That means I have another few things to add to that list:

  • T needs eye exam and glasses
  • T needs to go back to the BMV to retake the eye test for her drivers license

Freaking awesome, I am blind. Does pregnancy do that to you?

  1. Hope you don’t need any special lenses darlin’. After the bills I was presented with today…I’m going to need to be blind before I get new glasses. ;-O

    Rees last blog post..Seventeen

  2. Seems it’s always a three-letter acronym, often preceded by a four-letter word.

I was intrigued by the idea that pregnancy might cause vision problems, but a quick googling assures me it can. Be sure and tell your doctor about the vision stuff.

  3. Holy crap! I’m gone for a few days and look what happens!!!! A DOUBLE LINE! Congratulations!

My first pregnancy, I took a picture of the pretty little double lined test and emailed it to my girlfriends. They never responded. I sent the picture again. NOTHING! (some friends, sheesh!). So I stopped using that as my way of communicating my pregnancy.

  4. @Hyphen Mama: I know we are moving fast here huh?

My friends are all “finally you are pregnant!” I am pretty much the last one to get pregnant and get married…
