House floods and hair dye…

I am one of those 20somethings who already has gray hairs, yep it is true! Actually it is a chunk of gray hairs, kind of a streak on my right side right near my hair line. I usually dye my hair with the intent of covering the gray I have tons of hair so I usually need 2 boxes of dye. Unfortunately, dye is expensive and these days we are scrounging every penny we have for our $10,000 move. Lately this has prevented me from enjoying the luxury that is coloring my hair...

Finding rental houses (not apartments) online…

I have never understood why finding rental homes online is so much more difficult than finding apartments. When we moved out to Flagstaff, AZ we rented several apartments over the course of 2 years. Apartment complexes just don't make things easy for multiple pet owners and families with kids seldom want to live in an apartment setting. Sometimes renting an actual house is better but finding them is never easy! I thought it would be helpful for others if I complied my rental home resources. This is not a sponsored post but I have had the opportunity to to business with several companies on the list and will link you to the posts made when I lived in homes under the particular company's management. Hopefully this list is helpful to some...

3 months to go till we move, again!

Last week was the first week of being forced to showed our current rental home. The owners decided to put it back on the market 3 months into our 6 month lease. So, I was home last Friday when this Native American couple came with their agent to tour the home. The showing was fairly quick and cordial so it was no huge inconvenience for me (other than having to wrangle the animals and clean the place). Yesterday we got a call from the landlords office to schedule another showing for this week, on Friday. Then N calls me and says he just talked to J, our landlord, and it seems like the house is going to sell. The couple that came through last week made an offer on the house so...

Being a renter in Arizona kind of sucks!

Well, this was going to be an auto post for tomorrow since we are heading down to my moms house but I am just raging mad right now and have to share this shit with you guys! Yesterday I mentioned that our landlord informed us that the home we are renting was being put on the market and that we would need to show the house to potential buyers, this is not good news to us! We looked over our lease and had a family member and real estate expert, Jerry, look over the lease. Nowhere in the lease does it say that we are obligated to show the home to potential buyers and agents (like it did in the previous lease we signed for another home) but it does state the...

Getting a tan and blogging…

Today is such a nice day! Yesterday we got rain so the air is all fresh and clean today plus the sun is shining and it is a warm 63 degrees out. As son as I got home from teaching I got my bathing suit top on, grabbed my towel and headed out to get some sun on my back. You see the band/ guard spring tour is coming up. I am chaperoning since I am a staff member and it is in California so that means pool/ beach time. living in a cooler climate has a definite impact on tanning. I have this sweet farmers tan from getting sun in my t shirts and I wanted to try to even it out today since the weather is so nice! It...

Birthday photos shared!

I promised to post some photos from my birthday and I try to live up to my promises! Since I got plants galore you will be subjected to a slew of bulb information and photos but don't run away yet! We also have some adorable baby photos and some yummy fondue photos to share. First, I compiled a list of the plants I got, plugged them in to my Dave's Garden Journal with photos so I could remember what got planted where in a few months. It's so easy to forget what you have and where you put it when you have a garden addiction like I do! Peruvian Daffodil (view my dave's garden journal entry by clicking here) - Is a uniquw white flower with wispy petals and a sweet scent....

Woho… The crocus are in bloom!

That means gardening fun is about to begin for us! The crocus blooms are a beautiful yellow and are quite cheerful. They are kind of short, like they were planted too deep but it still so great to see them even if they are short. Do you have any early spring bulbs that are blooming yet? I hope so because I am dying for spring time! So, now that the ice is melting and the bulbs are blooming we are able to get into the large box of crap that was left behind by the people who lived here before us. Guess what we found? Personal documents and credit cards, can you believe that? Teeni was just talking about how we all need to take steps to protect our personal information and then...

I have spring fever! Is winter over yet?

Well, we are moved in to our new place and it's a bit like Christmas here every day! We are discovering all kinds of "surprises" each day as the snow melts. Some of the "surprises" are pleasant because they are signs that spring is around the corner, others a just odd. Yesterday we determined a smashed up coffee maker was rearing it's head in the back yard. It was apparently thrown there before the snow started falling, got burred and is now frozen in place till the ice/ snow thaws. Another discovery is the box of files and games on our front porch area. It too was buried under snow and was undetectable till things started thawing. The more pleasant discoveries include the three rose bushes and some emerging bulbs that...

Bleach smells bad so I used it to clean the old home.

We seldom use bleach because of the environmental/ health impacts but had acquired a few large bottles of it some time ago. I don't like the smell of it and I always seem to mix it with something that I shouldn't (like cat urine in the litter box or whatever).. I was determined to make sure everyone knew we cleaned the place and what is better than a pungent bleach smell to convey that we cleaned? He, he...

A rant about installation appointments

Well we are still waiting to have our phone/ DSL connected today. We had an appointment for a tech to come out between 12pm & 5pm today, it’s 4pm as I write this and nobody is here. The whole deal with service calls and connecting utilities is kind of silly. They need access to your home and they make an “appointment” to come out and complete the work. The appointment times usually span the entire day which is just silly. When you are moving from one place to another you are seldom hanging out in one place so the 5 hour middle of the day “appointments” are a pain because you can’t leave your new home to tie up loose ends at the old one cause you might miss your technician. It...

My body hates me- moving is rough!

Well, I am just now sitting down with my laptop for basically the first time in 2 days. We are moved in and it has been exhausting! Thanks to my family we got the majority of our junk into the new home by Sunday night. We stayed in the new, warmer, much bigger home Sunday night. I didn't sleep much last night, we got up this morning got started early, I headed off to teach my class, came home, moved more stuff, unpacked some things and before we knew it all the large stuff was moved. Amazingly all our utilities are on too!! The only thing that is not connected right now is the phone and DSL. They will come tomorrow to hook it up, apparently the dogs that lived here before chewed...

Yay the insainty has passed!

Mmmm buttery toast! I am finally sitting down to relax, seems like it's been the first time in two weeks! I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I am so thankful to be so fortunate. I knocked out 45 custom purses and they are on the way to their destination as I type this. This was a high volume order but I do well under pressure so I took it on and I love being able to work out of the comfort of my own home- even when the stove is on fire...
