3 weeks postpartum: Still in a daze trying to grasp it all.

Today Everly is 3 weeks old, we've been parents to our beautiful daughter for 21 days. 21 days seems like way more than it currently feels like. Shoot, I am still in a daze and haven't quite grasped that she came from me and how truly amazing that is. We've started printing out some of the photos from the birth and the first few days of her life. They help to make the birth seem that much more real in my mind but I know I still haven't totally grasped the entirety of it all. Eventually when I am feeling less depressed and emotional I'll watch the birth video and take stock. It's crazy how I was there birthing her totally unmedicated and I still don't have a complete grasp of how...

Headed to The Farm Midwifery Center: Will be meeting my new baby soon!

Most of you already know, today is the day I leave for The Farm to have my baby with a midwife. I've got wonderfully peaceful accommodations right next to the home of my trusted midwife there in The Farm community. I am 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Tater could arrive any day now and we wanted to be sure I was there and settled just a tad early, better safe than sorry right? That way Tater can make her entrance either before or after her "due date" and I'll be exactly where I need to be, ready for it. So, given I have some cell phone reception I'll be live blogging via text message. These will be very short and sweet entries to keep everyone in the loop. I recommend you...

Today I am 35 weeks pregnant, another belly shot shared.

I am eating some nut & chocolate trail mix. Just slathered more goop on the belly and was thinking I should write a 35 week pregnancy post. Still pregnant as ever, feeling more and more uncomfortable as the days pass. Am still gaining weight despite all the talk in books about how weight gain slows or stops towards the end of the pregnancy. Captured this belly shot yesterday after getting off the phone with Krystal. She said "you must be getting so huge", I sure feel freaking huge but you can be the judge of that based upon the photo. My hormones are sure in full swing these days. Yesterday I had a blow up at the post office thanks to a rude postal worker. Super annoying situation, very irritating employee and I...

Summertown & Nashville Tennessee weekend recap, fun times!

We had a blast this weekend and even took some photos to share with you. Hopefully you enjoyed the belly shot photos I shared with you over the weekend. If you haven't seen those yet you can by following this link. For those of you who didn't already know we planned to spend my birthday weekend in Tennessee. It was our last appointment with our midwife out at The Farm until we come to stay and deliver Tater in early June. We figured it would also be kind of nice to plan a mini vacation for that weekend since it will be basically the last time we travel for leisure as just the two of us before Tater arrives. N did have a nice dinner planned for me at The Melting Pot in...

Got some plants on the way and some animal drama for my birthday.

Today has started off with a bang! For starters it is my birthday. I am feeling better than yesterday, thank goodness and I know I'll feel even better tomorrow when we go to see Pamela at The Farm. I am still having fun entering all sorts of giveaways to try winning some of the things we need for Tater, you can enter too. See this post for more details. N was so cute, he made a little scavenger hunt of gardening goodies for me to find for my birthday. You see all I wanted was plants and bulbs for my birthday so he ordered them. Unfortunately growers will only ship after your latest frost date so I wont actually have the plants and bulbs until April, which was expected. Still he wanted to...

16 week prenatal exam was today!

We were up and off to the OBGYN early this morning for the usual listen to the baby's heartbeat and ask questions appointment which is almost completely pointless by the way. If we had the little heartbeat machine at home the doctors appointments wouldn't even be necessary. That is how helpful the doc is! My blood pressure was 100% normal despite my worries about the heart racing and pounding I've experienced. We asked the doc about said heart pounding and were told it is completely normal for pregnant ladies due to increase in blood volume, just like we already read. Interestingly enough my diet modifications (spinach and generic ensure drinks) have decreased the frequency of the heart pounding. I told the doctor this. I know many of you will be able to...

Taking the next step towards birthing at The Farm

After talking right through the New Years Eve countdown N agreed that we would make the trip down to The Farm in TN and take the next step towards planning our birth there. The financial aspects of our situation really bother me and they are the only reason why we would choose not to birth at The Farm. We still need to come up with the cash to repair our nice Nissan Maxima that is still in Arizona before little Tater Tot comes. We'll need a safe car to transport our little one around in and the Nissan has airbags and all that safety jazz, the Amigo does not...
