Finding rental houses (not apartments) online…

I have never understood why finding rental homes online is so much more difficult than finding apartments. When we moved out to Flagstaff, AZ we rented several apartments over the course of 2 years. Apartment complexes just don't make things easy for multiple pet owners and families with kids seldom want to live in an apartment setting. Sometimes renting an actual house is better but finding them is never easy! I thought it would be helpful for others if I complied my rental home resources. This is not a sponsored post but I have had the opportunity to to business with several companies on the list and will link you to the posts made when I lived in homes under the particular company's management. Hopefully this list is helpful to some...

Bleach smells bad so I used it to clean the old home.

We seldom use bleach because of the environmental/ health impacts but had acquired a few large bottles of it some time ago. I don't like the smell of it and I always seem to mix it with something that I shouldn't (like cat urine in the litter box or whatever).. I was determined to make sure everyone knew we cleaned the place and what is better than a pungent bleach smell to convey that we cleaned? He, he...

Our oven works?? Now what do I do?

It's been a long and annoying 2 weeks since our stove caught fire and today I am here to report that it appears we can actually use the oven on our new for us/ used stove. Oh, joy. Guess that means I can stop eating large dishes of jello like it's going out of style huh? Random thought, I know but seriously I have been eating jello and craving it like crazy. We consumed one box already and I made up 3 more (yes 3) boxes last night for our chowing pleasure. I really don't need to be snacking on jello considering I have lost 12 pounds over the last 3 months and I am wasting away...

Moving tips?

A few days of nothing have been nice but now I need to get my butt in gear and start getting ready to move. We get the keys to our new place on 2/25 and need to be out of this place my 2/29.. It's nice to have a few days to make the transition although I wont be able to spend my time blogging on those days cause I'll be making trips back and fourth in the car trying to move loads of boxes.. Oh, well a bigger place is good so it's worth it right? Oh, I almost didn't mention that my man got offered a promotion. I can't list the specifics because it's not official yet and I don't want to blow his cover but basically got...

My interview by Janelle

I participated in the citizen of the month great interview experiment and totally forgot to post my own interview questions here. It was fun to interview someone and to be interviewed. Janelle over at junk food for the soul interviewed me and thankfully she asked about my interview and reminded me to post it! I totally forgot...

Yay the insainty has passed!

Mmmm buttery toast! I am finally sitting down to relax, seems like it's been the first time in two weeks! I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I am so thankful to be so fortunate. I knocked out 45 custom purses and they are on the way to their destination as I type this. This was a high volume order but I do well under pressure so I took it on and I love being able to work out of the comfort of my own home- even when the stove is on fire...

When life gives you lemons…

... smash them into a sorry pulp, take some photos and blog about it. Things are crazy right now (that is quite the understatement)... Our living situation saga just keeps getting more and more interesting as the days pass. Back on January 15th 2008 I wrote "You broke your toe? Want to buy a house?" where I shared with my readers the interesting letter we received from the owners of the home we are renting. They were expressing their "urgency" and wanted to work with us to make our ownership of their house possible. Back in August when we agreed to rent this house on a month to month basis my man was negotiating his contract at work. His contract stipulates pay over an agreed amount of time and a bunch...

The economy and house prices….

Well, today the owners of the place we are renting made us another offer.. You see when we first agreed to rent this place we were in the middle of contract negotiations and we were interested in buying a home but were not finding anything at the right price. We agreed to rent on a month to month basis while they still listed the house as for sale. Since August the house has been for sale, we have been showing the house as interested people come along but for the last 2 months nobody has been interested in seeing the house. Also, since we began renting the selling price of the house has been dropped about $50,000.. Yep our rented 2 bedroom 2 bath home in Flagstaff, AZ was initially listed...

Real estate news- It's a buyers market!

We have been home hunting for about a year now and we are still in no position to buy but the reality of the situation is that it's quickly becoming a buyers market. A buyers market "is one in which there are too many homes on the market for the number of buyers. Homes take longer to sell and prices fall." We are renting a home that is also for sale. A number of people have toured the home but lately the showing frequency and quantity are really decreasing. The house is a two bedroom in the Flagstaff/ Kachina Village area of Arizona. When we moved into it the price was $280,000...
