Snow and ice are here but we still have power, woot!

If you read yesterdays post you know we were supposed to be getting this hellish ice storm and tons on snow according to the forecasters. Once N got to work he heard the news and promptly informed me. They said we would loose lose power (thanks Josh for the typo catch!) and that we should all take steps to prepare for the storm. Like I've said in previous posts people in this town are snow wimps, snow doesn't happen that often here and is not managed well by the city so I guess it is only natural for them to freak out whenever a winter storm is headed our way. Anyway we did get some snow and ice, not the 3 inches they said we would though. School is canceled for many...

Prenatal appointments, huge zits and freezing rain fill my brain.

This week I have not one but two prenatal appointments scheduled. I am now in my 15th week of pregnancy (yippie!) and will be meeting Pamela @ The Farm this weekend. We are also seeing the OBGYN on Thursday morning for our 3rd prenatal appointment. N is anticipating the prenatal appointments because he gets anxious to hear that little Tater Tot's heart is still beating. He admitted last night that it is hard for him to trust that all is going as planned with Tater Tot inside my uterus since he can't feel any movement yet or experience the growth and body changes I am going through. Although he does admit to having sympathy symptoms right along with me. I let him feel the tightness in my lower belly where Tater Tot...

Snow in may, what is going on? and Mothers day weekend – part 1

Well, I awoke this morning to lots of fluffy white stuff falling and covering everything. We were foretasted for some thunderstorms last night and today. The possibility of snow was mentioned but no accumulation was expected. Here that means the snow melts as soon as it hits the ground. Doesn't look like that is the case today, the schools called a 2 hour snow delay and we had to scrape snow from the car before I could take N to work. I am sure it will melt away throughout the day. It is May for crying out loud, snow in May is not the norm! We got back from visiting my mother yesterday and were exhausted. N had been on the road for 2 days prior to us visiting family then we...

Woho… The crocus are in bloom!

That means gardening fun is about to begin for us! The crocus blooms are a beautiful yellow and are quite cheerful. They are kind of short, like they were planted too deep but it still so great to see them even if they are short. Do you have any early spring bulbs that are blooming yet? I hope so because I am dying for spring time! So, now that the ice is melting and the bulbs are blooming we are able to get into the large box of crap that was left behind by the people who lived here before us. Guess what we found? Personal documents and credit cards, can you believe that? Teeni was just talking about how we all need to take steps to protect our personal information and then...

A white valentines day.?.?

Yep, we are having a white valentines day! It's cold, snowy and cozy. I'll get to use up lots of our fire wood today so that is good! The more we burn the less we will have to move in a few weeks. Yesterday I tried to go out back and chip some ice off the sidewalk. We have these French back doors that we will need access to when we are moving all our large furniture out of this place. Unfortunately, the inches of slick ice covering the sidewalk and the feet of snow blocking our access to the parking area will prevent us from moving our stuff so we need to get that taken care of ASAP. I also dug out my un-planted flower bulbs and got those babies in...

Crazy weather makes for chilly times….

Yesterday it rained, all day and changed to snow last night.. It's been snowing since then and this type of weather just make me want to sit and relax. Stormy weather makes me want to relax and to have "me time". I am eating top ramen and the fire is going while I am sitting here in the couch with my laptop. The only down side to the weather is that our heating bill is going to be even worse now! By the way I think my cat was oriental in a previous life because he is just crazy about noodles! He is sitting here trying to steal noodles as I eat my ramen...

More winter weather is on the way and we have more babies!

Well it looks like I am getting my wish for snow! We had a light snow storm last weekend and we are expected to get another one this weekend that will actually be starting tomorrow. This is great for Christmas cheer but bad for Christmas tree cutting. We had planned to cut our tree down last weekend but the storm stopped us, then we said we would do it this weekend but it looks as though the storm is stopping us again...

Our weather is here! Woho!

I woke up to something other than sun this morning! This makes me very happy. It's raining and I have tons to do today, I love the rain so this is good! Tomorrow I am selling at a local craft show so I have spent the week getting my products ready for display and sale. Also I have been working with my high school kids to design and teach our next routine for the 2007/ 2008 Winterguard Season. It's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow which may be good or bad for the craft show sales. I think the snow may get people more into the holiday season but it also may keep them from leaving their homes to come out to the sale. Oh well, we will see! Oh, thanks to...
