Life in Evansville

Spring showers and forward motion, are we there yet?

It is a cool, rainy night here in Evansville and I am loving it. I spent the day doing finances, printing the way cute photos we took over the weekend for our scrapbook and I also started making the pregnancy announcements we are having done for friends and family. All in all it's been a productive day despite the fact that slumlady has once again failed to do what she said she would! Yep, we still have not been given the signed copy of the mutual release letter she was having her husband sign, damn hobag! We are all "whatev" at this point, we are moving out either way! N is pretty pissed off though. Oh, did I mention that we are signing the paperwork on our new home on Sunday? We'll...

Only 2 weeks until the third trimester, man time flies!

Today I am off enjoying my birthday weekend, actually my birthday was yesterday but N was working so we didn't celebrate. We are off doing just that right now! I thought I would leave you with some fun 25 weeks pregnant belly shots in my absence. As you are reading this I am actually in my 26th week of pregnancy, these photos are from last week. The 27th week of pregnancy will be the last in the 2nd trimester according to my What to Expect When You're Expecting book. Wow! Anyway, here is the front view of my belly taken March 12th 2009, sorry about the dirty mirror. I didn't think to clean it before snapping the photos. Now the front view really doesn't do the belly justice so I also shot it...

Hey mama, win some goodies!

I have been in a crappy mood today basically over finances and lack of preparedness. You probably got that from my last post huh? Well, I wasn't going to whine about it here in another blog post cause that is a downer. So I resolved to sleep and lay around all day instead having anxiety and feeling blah. I was reading your blogs, commenting and tweeting throughout the day just wasn't in the mindset to post anything worthwhile when one of the people I follow tweeted about a contest that was right up my alley! It was for 3 Fuzibunz cloth diapers, I still have none so I went and entered. Then I got to thinking, "Hey whiny baby! Change those poopy pants and do something to improve the situation instead of...

Hump day is kicking my butt!! All I want to do is sleep.

Man, I am drained today and have no idea why! It is a nice day, not to cold and not to warm. Spring is upon us and the garden is showing first signs of life. I've got plenty of things I should be doing like cleaning house, finishing up building the cat house, packing, crocheting etc. I just can't muster the energy to do any of it. I was at least able to get some blog posts written up in advance for the weekend since we'll be off doing other things. Like seeing the midwife and celebrating my birthday...

Tater's birth is coming up pretty fast! She is due around June 25th and I'll be heading off to The Farm on June 13th for my "delivery month" (38 to 42 weeks pregnant) where I will sit and wait for her to come. The Farm is a great place for all things natural and I am super pleased to be having my natural childbirth there. Yay! Unfortunately for my readers and far away buddies I wont have internet access once I get there. Which means I wont be blogging or updating while I am there. I am going to have major internet withdrawal folks! But, we are working out various other options like tweeting updates via text message and also having guest posts from other bloggers to keep the content fresh here...

25th week prenatal appointment updates and brain dump.

Yesterday was my 25 week prenatal appointment with the useless OBGYN. Got the all clear on mine and Tater's health. Things are still going normally and are on track. I weighed in at 123.5 lbs which is 4.5 pounds more than last checkup. That is perfectly normal when you remember the recommended weight gain during the 2nd trimester is 1 to 1.5 lbs per week. I got my dreaded Glucola drink for the next appointment in two weeks. They are doing my blood glucose test and will also be running my blood work to check for any antibodies that may have been developed during pregnancy. I hate having blood drawn, remember how I passed out at our first prenatal appointment? I hope there is no repeat of that incident at the...

Um, hi! Can you spray your germs somewhere else, please? [*warning* graphic snot pic ;-)]

As you know we've been busting our butts to get stuff done these days. Yesterday we had my chiropractor appointment, talked with our slumlords on the phone (and got out of our lease), then we went to the bank per their request to place stop payments on the 2 checks we sent them for rent but they never got. At the bank we got the really old and really slow teller lady who was oozing of germs. We explained our situation to her and asked to have the 2 stop payments processed, then we were planning to have a cashier's check cut in place on the 2 stop payments. Easy enough right? Well for starters the old teller lady was hacking up a lung the entire time we were trying to tell...

The final chapter of the crappy evansville landlord drama.

Today is a good day! For those of you following the rental saga, here is the latest (and hopefully the final) update. After months of certified letters, emails, phone calls and face to face meetings that accomplish nothing we've finally decided to ask the landlords to release us from the lease come May 1st. We decided that asking to be released from the lease was the better way to go. If we needed to get a lawyer and present all our documentation supporting their breach of the lease we could. It is just that starting the legal battle takes much time and lots of money we didn't really want to have to fork out if not necessary. So, N made the phone call to the landlords this morning. He is the professional one...

Time flies… When it Rains, it pours… We have some more news too!

Is it strange that vacuuming was enjoyable for me this last week? I got a wild hair and was having a good ole time with our vintage Filter Queen vacuum. It might have been the warmer weather that got me all motivated or perhaps it's the prospects of getting out of this place and in to the home we just looked at. Either way, I was cleaning and even packing stuff up. Woho for motivation! The last few weeks have been filled with all sorts of crapola and it's made us grumpy at times but we are glad to have gotten so much accomplished. Here is a recap complete with links in case you missed something or a bored and want to read our drama. We got our taxes filed and our...

Um, did someone die in this house? Man it smells! (Evansville rental home search continues…)

I am going to be honest, this home hunt thing has really made me a downer lately. I know how boring and blah the posts have been and I am trying to not go on and on about the same crap, it is just hard to swiftly change perspective when nothing is actually looking up or improving. We looked a two other home possibilities today and both were basically a waste of time. One was decorated like and also smelled about as good as a nasty no-tell-motel room. You know the cheap indoor/ outdoor carpets in the most disgusting color and the wafting cigarette smoke/ someone died in this place smell? Yep, that was the first place we looked at. We literally walked through the living room, in one bedroom and we're...

Checketty, check, check those things off that list!

The last few days have been jam packed with adult obligations and what not. We've spent much time at our bank trying to figure out the mystery of our February rent payment. We've researched landlord/ tenants legalities and sent out another certified letter with our March rent payment. We cleaned house with our free, spiffy antique vacuum and we packed stuff up too. Today we had our tax appointment over at H&R block. I've always done our taxes myself online but this year with the moving, the business and all the other financial craziness we decided things were complex enough to pay the $300 to have someone prepare them for us. Taxes only took about one hour 45 minutes and $300 later we were done and our returns are on the...

The Filter Queen, a cute country home and more landlord drama…

Today was an early and productive day for us. We woke up and headed to our bank to discuss getting some legal documentation against our landlords. You see they closed their accounts prior to the beginning of February and our electronic bill payment to them (for rent) wasn't paid since their account is no longer...

23 weeks pregnant: baby kicks and stormy warm nights…

Yesterday was the beginning of my 23rd week of pregnancy. I must say this whole thing is just kind of flying right by, it is kind of scary how fast it's going! I thought it would be cool to try recording some of Tater's movements so I can show her once she is older. I captured a few short/ good videos of her. You can see them here and here. Last night we had thunderstorms, which N and I both love very much. We had windows open enjoying the fresh cool breeze and we loved hearing the rain/ thunder. Unfortunately the pets decided the weather was their cue to act completely insane all night. Once N and I finished watching our recorded episode of American Idol at around 2am we went to bed...

Slumloards, credit scores and a prenatal chiropractor [in a pear tree]…

Being all pregnancy slackerific the majority of the time means that when the energy does actually come in spurts we have a crapload of stuff to accomplish all at once. Thankfully as a team N and I have managed to continue getting everything dealt with that needs to be. It is days like today that make it all possible. I had N get me up early today so I could get busy taking care of some Custom Gifts by Talina duties...

Wordless wednesday- things we do without…

Right now it seems there are more products I love and can't find to buy these days than ever before. Since leaving Arizona we've found ourselves unable to find so many items we've become attached to. Please send groceries! We've been looking at the local pet stores like crazy for this litter. It is amazing and we love it because it is natural and super absorbent! No stinky kitty urine smell, no clay stuck to the tub, less litter box changes...

Making choices is hard stuff sometimes!

I am normally a pretty decisive person. When I know what I want I am set on it but when I don't I am pretty open to whatever comes my way. Normally I can use logic and reason to help me make any decision easily and I would get annoyed with others for being indecisive. Well, somehow with the pregnancy hormones and the doubts I've lost my ability to decide things and it kind of stinks. Not only am I indecisive I am also the expert of getting myself to doubt my own options or ideas. Sounds like a pretty world ending sad thing huh? Do you think they make a pill for this? Seriously! No, I am kidding because really my indecisiveness is only about silly non world ending stuff like picking...

Critters are everywhere! What is that in our wall?

You know we always have crazy eventful times with animals around here right? I mean all of our pets come to us by some sort of fate. They dart in our front door or are starving in a hole by the sidewalk when we walk by. We are suckers, we just can't walk by and leave them be dealt with by someone else. We feel all guilty and bad...
