20 week ultrasound appointment. We're having a…

[POPUP=IMG1]We got in for our appointment and got some nifty photos of our little one today. We even got a little CD with the photos in addition to the ultrasound printout. N was way excited about our appointment and he is super stoked at the news. Lets see, I weighed in at 119 today and am super stoked. That is 9 pounds gained since the last appointment and the doctor even remarked at the weight gain being good. The ultrasound showed that Tater is measuring in the 56th percentile as far as growth goes, which is just above average. All the baby's measurements came back normal and the head is even a tad small which they think is a good thing since it makes for easier delivery. My blood pressure was 108/62 which...

Yep, we are moving AGAIN… Shoot me now!

Did you watch Obama's thing last night? I did because N and I are all opinionated about the government and we've been looking real hard at the governments ideas to help the housing market. We've officially come out of our state of delusion and are actively looking for a new home that we want to be in BEFORE Tater Tot arrives (it is our perfect world goal but we'll move after the baby comes if we really have to). Unfortunately this is dependent on several other things like getting out of our current lease...

Brain Spew: Bullet Point Thursday. Bun in the oven edition.

I could be long winded and thorough about all these things but that is just a tad boring and seriously nobody cares that much right? So here is my brain spew for you in the form of an infamous bullet point post. Enjoy! My tap water gives me diarrhea. Yep I know that is TMI huh? It is serious though. About every 2 weeks it happens and oddly enough it is coinciding with my water intake. Any time I drink more than my 2 jugs of water it just runs right through me. Someone remarked "wouldn't you just pee the water out?" and I thought to myself, "why yes I should". Problem is that is not what is happening. Then my mom reminded me that her water has some unusual levels of...

Wordless Wednesday, Feb 4th 2009

Nothing like crawling in to bed to find this: Yeah, I know the picture is microscopic and hard to interpret thanks to some stupid photo file corruption that happen when the photo was captured (thanks for ruining my really funny photo Kodak!). I'll try to describe it all for you, see the stain in the bed? See me laughing my ass off? See that yellowish thing in the middle of the stain? No, I did not pee the bed! It's one of these greasy buggers under the covers on N's side of the bed. N made the funniest face when he saw it, it was a cross between a look of disgust and curiosity. My reaction "Awe, dang! Sorry babe", then we laughed hysterically. You see we had Sonic breakfast burritos yesterday morning and then I...

Welcome to the midwest! We're ice storm virgins from the westcoast.

We are at the OBGYN right now My OBGYN is closed as a result of the level 2 state of emergency Evansville is in thanks to the power outages and road conditions! So I've scheduled this post to keep you all occupied until we get home, gather our thoughts and are able to draft up a post about our latest pregnancy news, stay tuned!  Better yet subscribe to the blog so you'll know when the post goes live first! Actually, the OBGYN never even tried calling us to inform us of the office closure so we're not sure when we'll be rescheduled for the ultrasound, guess we'll be waiting a while to get news on Tater Tot's gender...

18 week milestone for baby Tater Tot and parents

Many of you already know that this is a big week for us and little Tater Tot. On Thursday we will be at 19 weeks, will learn the sex of our baby and attend another prenatal exam with the OBGYN. I am sure seeing her will just be a delight as usual. Plus we are asking her for copies of all our prenatal records. We've already witnessed much baby movement that began last week and I've also accepted and embraced the fact that NONE of my pants fit anymore. I had my "oh-my-gawd-I-can't-do-this-we-aren't-ready" anxiety that transitioned in to some "nothing-is-how-I-imagined-it-would-be" nesting anxiety that kept me up at night and unpleasant to be around. Over the weekend we went to baby depot to search for some maternity pants and possibly a pregnancy pillow....

Snow and ice are here but we still have power, woot!

If you read yesterdays post you know we were supposed to be getting this hellish ice storm and tons on snow according to the forecasters. Once N got to work he heard the news and promptly informed me. They said we would loose lose power (thanks Josh for the typo catch!) and that we should all take steps to prepare for the storm. Like I've said in previous posts people in this town are snow wimps, snow doesn't happen that often here and is not managed well by the city so I guess it is only natural for them to freak out whenever a winter storm is headed our way. Anyway we did get some snow and ice, not the 3 inches they said we would though. School is canceled for many...

We toured The Farm and are super pleased!

Well, we visited The Farm on Saturday and were super pleased with our midwife Pamela. It was pouring the whole way from Indiana to Tennessee and the drive was long but we made it safely in one piece and were super glad we decided to take the trip. Pamela spent over 2 hours with us discussing policies and options. We talked about my health, the progress of the pregnancy, took my stats and she even did an internal examination of my pelvic structure. All went really well! Shoot I even gained another pound and a half between Thursday and Saturday, I weighed in at almost 112! My blood pressure was normal (100/60) and she agrees that my weight gain of about 12 pounds over the course of 16 weeks of pregnancy is...

We love to travel (even though it is always insanity) and can't wait to get away this weekend!

After spending most of the morning cleaning like a mad woman I think it is time for a nap! One of N's coworkers is watching over the house and the pets while we go to our prenatal appointment at The Farm so I wanted to have the house clean, you know since an outsider would be in it and all. Plus, I am real particular about the state of the house when I return from trips. I like to have vacuuming done, dishes washed, laundry done and everything straightened/ decluttered. I want to leave the place super clean because I know that while we are away the cats are going to go crazy. Every single time we go away the cats tear the house up. They'll knock over plants, vomit hairballs and...

Prenatal appointments, huge zits and freezing rain fill my brain.

This week I have not one but two prenatal appointments scheduled. I am now in my 15th week of pregnancy (yippie!) and will be meeting Pamela @ The Farm this weekend. We are also seeing the OBGYN on Thursday morning for our 3rd prenatal appointment. N is anticipating the prenatal appointments because he gets anxious to hear that little Tater Tot's heart is still beating. He admitted last night that it is hard for him to trust that all is going as planned with Tater Tot inside my uterus since he can't feel any movement yet or experience the growth and body changes I am going through. Although he does admit to having sympathy symptoms right along with me. I let him feel the tightness in my lower belly where Tater Tot...

Home buying fun in Evansville, IN- sellers are still greedy even when screwed!

Remember all the times I have talked about trying to buy a home on this blog? Well we are still living the first time home buyer saga. Over the weekend we looked at a place here that was a possible option for us, we met a Realtor that was overly eager to make her money and we once again have home buying on the brain. The main reason we are looking to buy is because of the economic state, it is a buyers market for sure. Houses on the market are in abundance, home prices are falling and lots of people are desperately needing to sell the homes they can no longer afford. Plus with President Obama it is likely we'll see some type of housing market stimulus attempt, you know to...

Taking the next step towards birthing at The Farm

After talking right through the New Years Eve countdown N agreed that we would make the trip down to The Farm in TN and take the next step towards planning our birth there. The financial aspects of our situation really bother me and they are the only reason why we would choose not to birth at The Farm. We still need to come up with the cash to repair our nice Nissan Maxima that is still in Arizona before little Tater Tot comes. We'll need a safe car to transport our little one around in and the Nissan has airbags and all that safety jazz, the Amigo does not...

Munching cat poo "cookies" is gross!

I am not sure what is so appetizing about eating cat poo piles from the cat box but our dog is totally addicted to it. It worries me because cat litter can't be good for a dogs digestive tract plus the process of eating cat poo somehow results in the poo and litter being strewn about the bathroom and the house (which is bad because I am not allowed to handle cat feces while pregnant) plus it just makes you want to vomit. Sometimes I wonder how much of the poo she actually eats and how much just gets thrown about in the process. Either way poo eating is bad business in my opinion. Yesterday while I was in the bedroom blogging and watching Desperate Housewives I heard things moving in the bathroom....

The day after Christmas, the aftermath.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Our holiday went well, it was celebrated at odd times as usual but we had a blast anyway! All you really need is to be together right? So, N came home from work late X-mas eve (11pm) and we proceeded to bake cookies and frost them. I wasn't particularly thrilled with the sugar cookie frosting recipe we used. It was crazy runny and kind of pissed me off. I yelled "If I wanted runny crap I would have just mixed my powdered sugar with some milk until it was runny!" N just laughed at me and said it wasn't that big of a deal. I felt like the world was ending. We frosted cookies and stuffed stockings until about 2am X-mas eve and then...

The 12 Days of Christmas, Talina and N's style

Okay, now sing it with me just to ring in the holiday spirit: On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me A garage cat with some fleas. On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Two broken cars (poor Nissan and Amigo!) And a garage cat with some fleas. On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Three months-of-pregnancy (almost 4!), Two broken cars, And a garage cat with some fleas. On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Four petri dishes of growing mold, Three months-of-pregnancy, Two broken cars, And a garage cat with some fleas. On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Five feet of soaking, nasty basement, Four dishes of mold, Three months-of-pregnancy, Two broken cars, And a garage cat with some fleas. On the sixth day...

Christmas Eve = Baking Madness!

Since we'll be grocery shopping and baking like mad on Christmas Eve I am pre-writing this blog post. Thankfully I am over the car drama stressing thanks to my therapeutic cinnamon roll baking and my ever fluctuating hormone levels. Once again I am making about 7 pans of Oowey, gooey, heaven in a pan, cinnamon rolls with this online recipe. If you love cinnamon rolls you have got to try the recipe, trust me! It is easy and pretty basic as far as ingredients go. Go forth and bake rolls, you will not be sorry. Oh and don't worry I wont be eating all 7 pans of rolls myself, that would be insane. I would slip in to a diabetic coma and Tater Tot would be bouncing off my uterus walls! N is taking...
