The Mesker Zoo and cat poo…

There is cat poo behind the front door again, thanks a bunch Hailey! She has been pooing back there for a week, for nothing other than the enjoyment of pissing me off. Both the cat boxes are clean and I have been scrubbing the poo area to get the smell out like every day. I am thinking about just setting her free outside that way she can poo anywhere she wants. Anyone want a carpet pooing cat? Just kidding. Enough about the cat poo. We are supposed to get some rain tonight here in Evansville. For the last few weeks we have heard nothing but whining about how dry and hot the weather has been. Every night when I switch on the news to see N's report I hear about how hot...

A visit to Owensboro, KY and some quality time!

Yesterday N and I went to Owensboro, KY to do another mystery shop and to spend some quality time together. On our way to the mystery shop we stopped in at Abbingtons Bridal House to scope out some dresses. Sadly they did not carry the Jacqueline Exclusive dresses I liked but they did offer me some constructive criticism about what kinds of dresses I should consider for my body type and the owner even jokingly asked me to model a dress in an upcoming bridal show because he loved my hair. I also found another dress that I am  adding to the "I like" file. Here it is: After we were done at the bridal shop (no I did not try and dresses on) we headed to starbucks for a pick me up...

In the new house, beginning to settle in.

It has been 4 days since we first stepped foot in our new home out here in Evansville, IN. Things have just begun to settle down and we are starting to settle in and enjoy our new surroundings. The last few days have been crazy hectic and I have gotten way behind in sharing my road trip experience. Lets just say the police were involved and we were all just trying to get from one day to the next, now things are resolved and my writing focus is beginning to return. I'll be posting our day 6 adventures soon, I just finished posting the continuation of day 5 and we now have internet access in the house so I can begin reading and commenting on other blogs again. Woho! Does anybody know...

Don't hesitate to finger your flowers or shake them! Ha…

I know, strange headline huh? It's for real though, I have tomatoes growing inside my home. They are in a window box and are a result of some cuttings we took. The tomato plants began flowering and we would "finger the flowers" or gently shake them to pollinate them since bees and humming birds are not in my house feeding from the flowers as they normally would outdoors. Lots of plants require polination before they can set fruit, without pollination fruit will not set. One of every three bites you take comes from a plant pollinated by wild pollinators. Our tomatoes have been especially slow to set fruit this summer. Many are concerned about the dramatic decrease in the bee population because bees are our natural pollinators. Slow setting fruit has been linked...

Whew, it is OVER!

You asked for it! Here is the scoop on the yard sale weekend complete with photos. My brother, mother and niece came to spend the weekend with us, to help and add to the excitement. My niece, Hazel was teething so she was tired and semi-cranky. Here is a photo to illustrate her mood: We were not so motivated the first day because we didn't sleep much the night before. My family was supposed to arrive at our place around 11:30pmish but were delayed in getting on the road and actually didn;t arrive till about 1:45am. We were waiting up for them and we watched the movie Cloverfield while we waited, it was an interesting movie! It sure kept us awake. After the family arrived I didn't get to bed till after 3:15am...

Thoughts on struggle and peaceful garden photos

To me the hardest thing is to watch a loved one go through trying times and to not be able to help them. My brother is dealing with some heavy stuff right now. He had a child with a girlfriend and they have just come to terms with the idea that they can't be together as a couple. His daughter and now ex-girlfriend just left his house to be on their own. He is not on his daughters birth certificate because his pregnant girlfriend was a minor when she gave birth. Ugh, it is a whole slew of drama that I don't want to bore you with. Basically sitting by and watching him make his choices and watching him struggle is killing me. As outsiders to the situation we can see...

Beer fest in flagstaff and the regular domestic disaster before moving

N got tickets to beer fest through his work and was super excited to go. He is afterall a beer lover/ homebrewer so this event was right up his alley. Me, I am not a fan of beer but I figured getting out of the house and having some alcohol might not be a bad idea. We headed to beer fest at about 4pm yesterday after a super productive morning and afternoon. The thing about this town is that people are just "different" here. At bars and similar community events people just dress up like it is halloween, maybe I am just out of the loop or something but I think dressing up randomly is kind of odd. Anyway, people were out dispite the rain. They were dressed in their oddest...

Killer allergies and some yard sale progress…

I am sitting outside writing this blog post as N continues to get his beauty rest. For the past few days we have been having some major allergy symptoms that are making daily activities difficult. This morning he was feeling much worse so he went looking for some dayquil in the medicine box. Unfortunately all we had was NyQuil so he opted for some benadryl instead...

Making the yard sale happen!

Well, I am going forward with the yard sale.. I want to have it July 26th & 27th in my driveway here in Flagstaff. My mother has agreed to visit for the weekend and help us, yay! We will drink brandy all day and sit in the driveway trying to sell off our crap! Maybe we can even have the Nissan brought back up here for the yard sale so we can sell it that same day! Oooo, maybe our doggies old owner could visit that weekend also! You see we got our Dixie on freecycle and we have always offered to let her old owners visit her except it has been so busy that it has yet to happen. Maybe yard sale weekend huh? Yesterday I spent the morning out the...

Everyone needs a little beauty once in a while!

Yep, that is right I have some beauty to share with you today. I went out into the garden to enjoy all my plants and their beautiful blooms. Here is a shot of my lavender blooms with the pine trees and the sky in the background. I spotted a pretty pink peony out in the flower bed of the rental house today, I just got my own peonies in march but they aren't blooming yet. I was pleasantly surprised to see this beauty in bloom all unexpectedly. I took several shots because I liked the shadow and lighting from various angles. One of my favorite flowers is the gerbera daisy. I love to have these in vibrant bright colors. Lucky for me Albertson's was selling small potted ones this weekend in the...

I am home, woho!

Last night we got back to town at 1am. Our time on the party bus officially had ended! It was an interesting time. The party bus was so cool but not conductive to an 8 hour drive, things were a bit tight and uncomfortable but it made for some great memories. We had a great driver, Kevin, who took very good care of us despite the fact that one of our students hit the "dump" button instead of the "flush" button in the bus bathroom. Our transportation was provided by InTheSceneLimousine, an Arizona Based transportation company for those of you who are wondering. We had a very positive experience with them on this trip, besides aren't the vehicles awesome looking? The kids played movies on the bus, guitar hero, they could hook...

Snow in may, what is going on? and Mothers day weekend – part 1

Well, I awoke this morning to lots of fluffy white stuff falling and covering everything. We were foretasted for some thunderstorms last night and today. The possibility of snow was mentioned but no accumulation was expected. Here that means the snow melts as soon as it hits the ground. Doesn't look like that is the case today, the schools called a 2 hour snow delay and we had to scrape snow from the car before I could take N to work. I am sure it will melt away throughout the day. It is May for crying out loud, snow in May is not the norm! We got back from visiting my mother yesterday and were exhausted. N had been on the road for 2 days prior to us visiting family then we...

Yuck, I made "cowboy coffee" this morning…

So, we got this new coffee maker because our old one was like 10 years old and it took several hours to brew one freaking pot of coffee. It was evaporating the water before it managed to drip through the system and onto the coffee grounds. N's birthday is coming so I thought getting him a coffee maker would be a nice early birthday present for the whole house so I cruised on over to amazon.com and got a programmable coffee maker that arrived in no time. Since N is away on business I have been the coffee maker and I suck! Well actually the filters suck.. We had all these cone shaped natural filters for our old coffee maker and for this new coffee maker we need the white basket type...
